About Dr. McMahon Jr.

John G. McMahon, Jr. DPM, DABPS is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at Adult & Child Foot & Ankle Care in Midlothian and Powhatan, Virginia. He is the owner and managing member of Adult & Child Foot & Ankle Care. Dr. McMahon treats patients for Achilles Tendonitis, Ingrown Toenails, Neuroma, Orthotics, Bunions, Plantar Fasciitis, Flat Feet Hammertoes, Heel Pain, Ankle Fracture, Ankle Sprain, Arthritis Treatment, Shin Splints, Toenail Fungus, Wart Removal, and Heel Spur Treatment along with many other conditions impacting the foot and ankle.

Dr. McMahon Jr. earned his Bachelors degree in Biology/Pre-Med at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He then went on to earn his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. McMahon Jr.'s residency was completed at Bon Secours New Jersey Health System in Hudson County, NJ. For Dr. McMahon Jr., the patient is always the top concern. Some of the most accomplished podiatric and orthopedic surgeons on the east coast, including a fellowship-trained foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon, and the team podiatrist for the New York Giants and New Jersey Nets actively participated in the doctor's residency training.

As a four-time All-American and Junior National Team Captain in lacrosse, Dr. McMahon understands how important it is for an athlete to get back in the game. Over the years he has effectively cared for running injuries, chronic ankle sprains, tendon disorders, and osteoarthritis through non-surgical means such as video gait analysis, gait training, and custom foot orthotics. Dr. McMahon is a frequent lecturer on injury prevention to local athletic groups such as the Woodlake Road Warriors, the Swift Creek YMCA's Monument 10k training team, and the Powhatan high school boys and girls cross country teams.

However, when a problem does require surgical intervention, Dr. McMahon is often the surgeon patients turn to and with good reason. He is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and regularly utilizes surgical privileges at both Bon Secours and HCA Health Systems. Based on his advanced level of training, years in practice, and clinical expertise, from 2009-2016, Dr. McMahon is listed among "America's Top Podiatrists", from 2009-2016, by the prestigious Consumer's Research Council of America.

In his spare time, Dr. McMahon enjoys spending time with his family, coaching lacrosse, and still loves a good "race day" having competed in multiple 10ks, triathlons, and half marathons. Dr. McMahon Jr. welcomes new patients, so call or request your appointment online to arrange a consultation with Dr. McMahon.
