OUR DOCTOR

All our professionals at Adult & Child Foot & Ankle Care maintain the highest levels of accreditation and pursue ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest trends in podiatry.

Dr. McMahon earned his bachelors degree in Biology/Pre-Med at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.  He completed his doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Dr. McMahon completed a 3 yr residency at Bon Secours New Jersey Health System in Hudson County, New Jersey.  Dr. McMahon benefited from working in the health system's Comprehensive Wound Care Center learning a multidisciplinary approach to various limb threatening conditions.  Some of the most accomplished podiatric and orthopedic physicians in the region, including a fellowship-trained foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon, and the team podiatrist for the New Jersey Nets and the New York Giants actively participated in the doctor's training.

After residency Dr. McMahon worked as an associate, for two years, at a high volume multi-office practice in central New Jersey.  There, Dr. McMahon honed his clinical and surgical skills before deciding to open his own practice in rapidly-expanding Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Adult & Child Foot & Ankle Care opened just off Hull Street Road in August 2002.  The practice has grown rapidly and is focused on Dr. McMahon's areas of clinical expertise: sports related injuries for all ages, over use injuries that occur "on the job" and reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery.

Dr.  McMahon is an associate of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine and has specialized training in treating the many foot and ankle injuries that occur to people of all ages in athletics. He has effectively cared for running injuries, tendon disorders, and osteo (wear and tear) arthritis through conservative measures such as gait training and custom orthotics and when necessary surgery. As a former four time All-American and Junior national team captain in Lacrosse Dr. McMahon understands how Important it is for an athlete to get back in the game.

Dr. McMahon is board Certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery from The American Board of Podiatric Surgery.  He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, the Virginia Podiatric Medical Association, and The American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine.  He is on staff with St. Francis Hospital, St.Mary, Chippenham, and Johnston Willis. At SFH he is chief of the podiatry subsection in the Department of Orthopeadic Surgery. Dr. McMahon was listed among "America's Top Podiatrist" by the prestigious Consumer's Research Council of America for 2009,2010, and 2011. The honor is based on a practitioner's advanced level of training, years in practice, and clinical expertise. He resides in Chesterfield County with his wife and two children.
