Our practice moved into a brand-new office space in August of 2007. The space is larger then our previous office and is better equipped with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. With the additional space we have been able to add dedicated rooms for video and computer gait analysis as well as a separate exam room for children.

Facilities and Equipment

Computer-generated and Video gait analysis: Our gait analysis center utilizes a treadmill to evaluate patient's walking and running and utilizes a special video gait analysis computer software. The software enables us to determine the most difficult biomechanical abnormalities of the lower extremity and is the same technology used for professional and Olympic athletes.

To diagnose gait abnormalities related to increase pressure points we also use a computerized force plate with over 4000 sensors. The sensors actively record and interpret the weight-bearing properties of every bone in the foot. We use this information to determine which shoes and/or orthotics would be best for each individual patient's abnormalities. 

Children's Room: Making kids feel at ease starts as soon as they walk in the door. Our waiting room is equipped with age appropiate toys, a child size table and chairs, and coloring books with familiar faces. One of our treatment rooms is dedicated to children so when making an appointment for your child be sure to ask for the Kids Room.

Advanced Technology and Therapy for Heel Pain; our office performs advanced therapy for heel pain and plantar fasciitis. We take a comprehensive approach to this potentially debilitating problem. These the most advanced diagnostic protocols utilizing digital x-ray on-site diagnostic ultrasound and video as well as computer-generated gait analysis. Always modalities enable us to determine the exact cause of your heel pain.

Cryogenic Ablation Therapy; Dr.McMahon is one of the few surgeons in the Richmond area trained in this treatment option. Cryogenic ablation utilizes cold temperatures to break down scar tissue as well as desensitize painful nerves. This procedure has a high success rate, is done in the office, and is minimally invasive thus requiring limited downtime compared to other surgical options.

Laser  Treatment for Toenail Fungus: Our office is proud to announce that we will be utilizing this latest technology to eliminate toenail fungus.  Laser therapy has been used successfully for years but recently was FDA approved. This is an office-based procedure that requires no local or general anesthetic, has none of the side-effects of systemic medications, and requires literally no "down time." Laser treaments are effective in eliminating nail infections and restoring clear nails. During treatment most patients experience a warm feeling in their toes, but a clinical study reported no adverse effects related to the laser.

Laser Treatment for Hypertrophic Scars: The laser technology is also an excellent modality for eliminating painful thickened scars secondary to trauma or surgery. This laser treatment is a safe and effective treatment for scar reduction and warts.
